Maserati announces plans to develop hybrid vehicles in the coming years
Maserati drivers find their vehicles to be among the best
cars for lease in the world. Yet if there was ever a complaint about the luxury car's line of automobiles, the vehicle's relatively low gas mileage. Yet fans of the sporty Italian automaker needn't worry about that for long, as egmCarTech is reporting that Maserati is considering releasing a hybrid vehicle in the coming years.
In a year that has seen numerous European manufacturers debuting eco-friendly designs at the Geneva Motor Show, Maserati has decided to throw its hat in the green-car ring.
There are no specifics on the company's precise plans for developing a hybrid power train, but egm's Omar Rana suggests that Maserati may draw inspiration from its sister line Ferrari, which recently announced plans to launch hybrid versions of its entire line within the next three to four years.
In the past, Maserati has tried to improve fuel efficiency by reducing the weight of its vehicles, though this new commitment to hybrid engines represent a far more serious intention to go green than had previously been shown, according to the news source.
