Cadillac stocks 2013 XTS sedan with CUE data control
Cadillac is turning to technology to fine-tune its 2013 XTS luxury sedan, a car that adds a top-shelf information network to the brand’s standard values of space and elegance.
When it reaches
car leasing showrooms in the spring of 2012, the XTS will fit just above its sibling CTS in size and price. Its capabilities include a lightweight, 3.6 liter V-6 engine linked to all-wheel-drive suspension, steady handling with Magnetic Ride Control and safety alerts communicated through a vibrating drivers seat.
Information is at the heart of the XTS, however, conveyed through an eight-inch dashboard screen loaded with capacitive-touch control with proximity sensing, gesture recognition and natural voice recognition. Dubbed the Cadillac User Experience (CUE), the system is a customizable interface that lets each driver control data and media in his or her favorite way.
Together, those features will power the new XTS to compete against
vehicle lease rivals such as the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6.
"The XTS' technology is woven into its design in ways that affirm the driving experience is of primary importance to a new generation of luxury customers," said Clay Dean, design director and Cadillac brand champion. "This is the new expression of luxury at Cadillac and it shows in the multilayered details, authentic materials and unprecedented connectivity."
